Cross Country Finishes Regular Season

Missouri Western cross country had an exciting meet on Friday, with the women’s team finishing strong. This was Missouri Western’s second and final regular season meet due to a shortened COVID-19 season. Missouri Western women’s team finished fourth in the meet with a score of 97. Since they finished in the top five they qualified for the Division II national meet as a team. The women’s category ran a 6k on Friday with many of the Missouri Western athletes ranking in the top 10. Leading Missouri Western with the fastest time was freshman Madison Nash with a time of 21:57.3. She finished fifth overall.

Senior Megan Gillen had the second fastest time for Missouri Western with a time of 23:15.4, placing 14th. Following close behind with the third quickest time for Missouri Western was senior Allison Goos with a final time of 23:22.5, finishing 17th. The winner of the overall meet was Northwest Missouri State.

The men’s cross country team ran an 8k on Friday, and Missouri Western’s very own Riley Gorham placed 28th with a total time of 26:23.3. He qualified for the national meet as an individual. Andrew Wright, a junior, ran a time of 26:38.3 and placed 35th overall. Zachary Carter is a freshman and placed 37th. Overall, the men’s cross country team placed sixth. Northwest Missouri State took home first place.

The Division II national meet will be held on Nov. 14 in Lubbock, Texas.
